The lectionary is the ordered system of Scripture readings appointed for each Sunday and Principal Feast of the Church's year. The Anglican Church follows a three-year cycle (Years A, B, and C), rotating through the Synoptic Gospels — Matthew, Mark, and Luke — with John woven throughout. Each Sunday provides four readings: an Old Testament passage, a Psalm, an Epistle, and a Gospel.
This lectionary is an adaptation of the lectionary included in the Anglican Prayer Book 1989. It conforms largely to the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) and uses the language of both RCL and APB 1989, allowing the use of preaching and liturgical resources based on either. The RCL is accessible online at lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu.
2026 is Year A, in which Matthew's Gospel provides the primary Sunday Gospel texts — the year of the Sermon on the Mount, the Kingdom parables, and the Great Commission. The document below contains all Sunday and Principal Feast propers for the complete 2026 liturgical year.
