Raising up the next generation
The Youth Office exists to serve the young people of our parishes — working in partnership with clergy, parents, and youth leaders to create environments where children and young people can encounter the living God, grow in faith, and find their calling.
Important: All youth workers, Sunday School teachers, camp leaders, and volunteers working with children must comply with Safe & Inclusive Church requirements — including a police clearance certificate and signed declaration. See the Safe Church Initiative page for full details and downloadable forms.
Teaching Resources
for Every Stage
Download the official Diocesan curriculum for Sunday School, Bible Class, and Confirmation. All materials are freely available to parish leaders and clergy.
All Sunday School curriculum is provided free to parishes. A Xhosa-language edition of Terms 1–2 is available on request. For bulk print orders or translated materials, contact the Youth Office.
Bible Class materials are designed for ages 13–17 and follow the same liturgical year as Sunday School. For support adapting materials to specific contexts, contact the Youth Office.
The Diocese strongly recommends the full two-year Confirmation programme. For parishes requiring a one-year pathway, please contact the Youth Office to discuss options with the Bishop's office.
Discipling the next

Safeguarding &
Your Obligations
The Diocese of False Bay is unequivocal in its commitment to the safety and protection of every child and young person in its care. Ministry to young people is a sacred trust.
Two-Adult Rule: No adult should ever be alone with a child or young person in a church context. All youth ministry must operate with at least two unrelated adults present at all times. This is a non-negotiable Diocesan requirement.
-
Police Clearance Required All youth workers — clergy, lay leaders, and volunteers — must hold a valid police clearance before working with children or young people. No exceptions.
-
Safe & Inclusive Church Declaration Must be signed by all who work with children. See the Safe Church Initiative page for forms and downloads.
-
Parental Consent Forms Required for all activities, camps, and offsite events. Parents must be kept informed and involved at every stage. Download forms from the Curriculum tab above.
-
Reporting Obligations Any concern about the safety or welfare of a child must be reported immediately to the parish safeguarding officer and Diocesan Youth Office. The Children's Act 38 of 2005 creates a legal obligation to report suspected abuse.
-
For Survivors If you have experienced harm in a church context, the Diocese has a confidential Victim & Survivor Support process. Contact the support team.
Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever causes one of these little ones to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck.
